Islamic Blessings Abbreviations 

"Allâh (SWT, سبحانه وتعالى) sends His Salât (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy) on the Prophet (PBUH, SAW, صلى الله عليه وسلم) and also His angels (ask Allâh, SWT, سبحانه وتعالى to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salât on (ask Allâh to bless)
​him (Muhammad, PBUH, SAW, صلى الله عليه وسلم)), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islâmic way of greeting
(salutation i.e. As¬Salâmu 'Alaikum)."

As described by Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him): It is prescribed to send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in prayer when saying the tashahhud, and it is prescribed when giving khutbahs, saying du’a and praying for forgiveness, and after the athan, and when entering and exiting the mosque, and when mentioning him in other circumstances, so it is more important to do so when writing his name in a book, letter, article and so on.
It is customary for Muslims to provide peace supplication after referring to God (SWT, سبحانه وتعالى) , a prophet (AS, عليه السلام), or to a companion of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH, SAW, صلى الله عليه وسلم). Therefore, on this website, we have provided standard Islamic blessings in parenthesis after every such reference. 

SWT - "Subhana Wa Tala"
​(سبحانه وتعالى)
Means "The Sacred and The Mighty". Used immediately after the use of the word "Allah" or in reference to Allah.

SAW - "Sal Allahu Allahi Wa Salam" (صلى الله عليه وسلم)
Means "May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him". Used immediately after the reference to Prophet Muhammad. More details are available here.

AS - "Alayhi Salam"
​(عليه السلام)
Means ""May Allah bless him" - Used immediately after the reference to any other Prophet, e.g. Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Mussa), Jesus (Issa), etc. More details are available here.
RA - "Radiy Allahu Anhu" (رضي الله عنه) or
​"Radiy Allahu Anha" (رضي الله عنها)
Means "May Allah be pleased with him" or "May Allah be pleased with her" - Used immediately after the reference to one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad, e.g. Abu Bakr, Omar, etc.
RU - "Radiy Allahu Anhuma"
​(رضي الله عنهما)
Means "May Allah be pleased with them" - Used immediately after the reference to one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad, usually when the name includes reference to the father and the father is also a companion, e.g. Ibn Abass (son of Abbass, and both son and father are companions), etc.
